How To Field Adjust A Differential Pressure Gauge Switch

How to Adjust a Differential Pressure Gauge Switch

  1. Remove the switch cover
  2. Set your multimeter to 2000 ohms
  3. Attach the black test probe to the blue wire (common) and the red test probe to the red wire (normally open)
  4. Your multimeter should read 1. The switch is presently set at 30psid.
  5. Apply pressure to the high pressure port only using air and venting the low pressure port to the atmosphere (on piston models use hydraulic fluid).
  6. In this example, we will pressurize the instrument to 20psid, which will become our new switch set point.
  7. Use the allen wrench to loosen the switch set screw to begin the adjustment. Continue to adjust until your multimeter reads close to zero.
  8. Re-tighten the switch set screw. Do not over tighten or you may damage the screw.
  9. Reduce the applied pressure until your multimeter reads 1. The switch is now in the normally closed position.
  10. Repeat adjustment until the new switch setting is achieved.

This video specifically shows instructions on how to adjust an enclosed switch for a 0-30 PSID gauge with a single pole, double throw switch. While the description applies to a number of Orange Research differential pressure gauge models, including our 1516, 1203, 1303, 1533 and 1833 series, we offer a variety of additional DP gauge options. Please contact us for more information or to discuss your specific differential pressure measurement requirements.
